Street Scenes from Melaka's Rich Heritage

I find myself being drawn back and again to Melaka over the last 2 months. What initially piqued my interest in this culturally and historically rich city which also happens to be the oldest city in Malaysia is its recognition as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Melaka being a short one and a half hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur also contributed in part to me finding myself wandering through its colourful streets and recently rehabilitated walk along Melaka River over two weekends!

I think that i might be so smitten by Melaka's charm and its rich heritage that i'm even seriously considering buying myself a weekend retreat, a beachfront condo in Klebang or Tanjung Kling, with a view of the Straits of Melaka and as a reprieve from the impersonal mad hustle and bustle that busy Kuala Lumpur is. Having travelled much of Europe, Asia and even South America, i could safely vouch that Melaka has so much to offer in terms of its rich cultural tapestry, history and people that it would restore the faith and wonderment of the most jaded travellers! In fact i'll be going back there next weekend with some friends from Singapore before they hop off to Melbourne.
