Ran into some problems with my bike today at the traffic lights off OUG. Was at the lights when i put my side stand down, just b4 the lights turned green, i couldn't start my bike at all. Not a hint of familiar ignition at all! Had to push the bike some 300 meters down the road. After a few dozen tries pressing the ignition & even had it on the centre stand to kickstart! Still Nada! Nothing! Pushed some more, not an easy task as the road slopes upwards gently & u're pushing a bike that's about twice your body weight! Ok for some of u feather weight flers, it might be 3 times your weight! LOL.Noticed that the side stand indicator dummy light was on & read some time back in a forum that a member had the same problem. Apparently the side stand indicator nut is loose so the indicator is up & safety is on, and the engine would not be started! But an angel must have been looking over me, as I gave it one final futile try & viola! The engine roared to life! Rode all the way back to Sri Hartamas on mostly full throttle like man chased by demons with the 'side stand' dummy light up! First thing i did when i got home was to take some wrenches & tackled that loose nut that gave my forearms a good workout today & tighten the little sucker! Now it starts like clockwork!
So the moral of the story my bros! (GTS owners!), is to check & tighten your side stand nut; cos it could save u half an hour's embarassment & much heaving & panting pushing a two wheeler on what would otherwise, could have been a leisurely Sunday ride!!
